it was great to have them with us for the weekend......The Paintbox have kinda been taking a' backroom boys' profile of late...still turning out the bikes and cars...but less of a profile at shows...so it was good to celebrate 21 years in business for us both together at the show. They also did a wicked job painting all the trophy pins all different colours and metallics this year.
its been laquered and flatted....so he striped the flames in striping basecoat....several acres of striping , he finished at 1am.....then its getting laquered again. Check it out at VolksWorld....it should'nt be too hard to find!!!
Vicky and Darren brought there 53 all the way from Scotland for some subtle lettering....it'll be at VolksWorld so check it out........I'll post pics as it evolves. It says something about the quality of a bus that can do that sort of distance without a hitch.
Neil has been working on a fuel helmet ...for a madman. We've been propping up the price of gold the amount of goldleafing we've done the last few months.
all sparkly and bright from the Paintbox....here to be goldleafed lettered and striped....maybe you've built something good enough to win one??? Its the toughest show to pick up a prize at as the standard is always so high. Still if your vw is good enough to exhibit there you're already 'there' in our book.
this has taken two people two evenings....thorough masking is essential as blow throughs in the door shuts or under the bonnet can't be put right very well after. Good masking makes the job. At this stage you can check the design and get an idea of how it will look.......Basecoat on the flames tonight or tommorow night.
finally finished off our buses glass logo....stippled a plectrum shape behind on the inside..then backed it up with black when it was dry, added an orange pinline..this is on the outside with the goldleaf lettering and outline.
and airbrushing the fade on the lettering of the autotechniks bus
Neil and I started the masking on a race bug last night.....[don't be fooled into thinking he does all the work....]
Its got to be finished for volksworld so there will be some more late nights. Its wearing a deep metallic purple...and the owner is going for a traditional type flame job.
now that the bay is nice and low following its visit to T2D its time to finish off the logos and panel line it....this week in the evenings Neil will be panel lining each panel by had...using xcaliber 00
It would be easier to tape the lines but it looks better hand done...and Neil gets his kicks below the waistline!!
The rear window logo has been started....scraped off the vinyl one, and goldleafed in the prosign. Now it needs shading and some outlines
We are celebrating 21 years of business...along with the Paintbox...We have over the years carried out some of best and most creative work with the Paintbox...it seems when Simon, Shane and Neil put their collective heads together there are no 'paint' boundaries....to celebrate this milestone and this unique collaboration have designed and printed some limited edition tshirts £16 each........we will be bringing them with us to Volksworld.
these are in vinyl but will be getting a cool turned gold keyline all the way round them..same with the back and the bonnet. Also a dark outline around the outside of the lettering.
its all going on at T2D our bus rides like a magic carpet...Neil had it off the clock on the way home now its got decent size tyres on the rear. There was the tiniest squeak on the test run....and Paul would'nt let it go til they got it back on the ramp and sorted it with the grease gun.
balljoint unwelded dropped spindles are the way forward
Hobbit makes a mean cuppa,{he made about 40} and we left them with the VolksWorld pins to sprinkle some paintbox magic on. Si models his new look......and Tyler shows us a burnout
this van for a good customer of ours has just been signwritten and airbrush faded....what it come alive monday and tuesday when we goldleaf outline the lettering...they have a cool logo too
